How To Be Saved ~ What You Need To Know

Are you a Christian or are you just involved in church?

Many people in churches in America believe that they are Christians when they aren't. Have you ever told God that you are a sinner and asked Him to forgive your sins based on Jesus' death on the cross? If you haven't, you need to ponder the following information and if you aren't positive that you have asked for God's forgiveness you need to do so. How sad it would be to go to and be involved in church and then die and not go to heaven. However Jesus taught that people will claim to have prophesied in His name, cast out demons and many wonders in His name but will be condemned to hell. (Matthew 7: 21-23) Are you sure that you aren't one of them? Jesus also taught that the way that leads to destruction is broad and that the way to life is narrow (Matthew 7:13-14). Are you 100% sure you are on the right road?

What you must do to go to heaven:

1. Believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of the one and only true God as revealed in the bible. (Luke 3:22; John 3:16-18; 1John 4:9)

Many people are willing to acknowledge that Jesus was a good man and a great teacher, even a prophet of God but not that He was the one and only begotten Son of God. Jesus claimed to be the Son of God (Matthew 16: 15-17; Matthew 18:10; Luke 22: 70; John 5:19; John 10:36-38; John 14:10, 12). If this is not true then He lied and did not live a sinless life! But He didn't lie as God himself claimed Jesus as His Son (Matthew 3:17; Luke 3:22). However believing that Jesus exists not enough as the bible says that the devil and his angels believe and tremble (James 2:19) but they aren't going to be in heaven (Matthew 25:41).
So what else must you do?

2. Realize that you are a sinner. (Romans 3:23) A sin is doing, or even just thinking something, that God has told us in the bible not to do. (Matthew 5:27-28) The consequence (penalty) of sin (even just one sin) is eternal separation from God in hell (Romans 6:23) which is described as a place of eternal torment (Matthew 13: 47-51).

Until you realize that you have sinned and that you can't live a good enough life to get into heaven because God demands perfection; you aren't headed to heaven.
So what else must you do?

3. Believe that Jesus lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and was raised by God after three days and that God will accept Jesus' death as payment for the penalty of your sin. (Romans 5:8, 9; 10:9-10; 1 John 4:10)

The Bible says that "For by grace have you been saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8- 9) You can't work for admission to heaven; you have to ask God to let you in. Jesus said that no man gets to the Father except by Him (John 14: 6-7).
So what else must you do?

4. Tell God that you are a sinner, ask God to forgive you of your sins based on your belief in Jesus and His death on the cross to pay your debt for your sins, and acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Savior. (1John 1: 9; Romans 10: 9-13)

If you tell God you know you are a sinner and ask Him to forgive your sins because Jesus paid the penalty for your sins when he died on the cross, YOU ARE NOW HEADED TO HEAVEN!

What do you do, now that you are on the road to heaven?

You need to let others know of your decisions (Matthew 10:32, 33; Mark 8:38; Luke 12:8), be baptized, and be taught (Matthew 28: 19-20) from the Bible and allow God to lead you through life. We encourage you to contact us to let us know of your decision so we can rejoice with you!
